Ashgabat [Turkmenistan], January 16 (ANI): Turkmenistan is steadily advancing the modernisation of its telecommunications sector as part of broader efforts to enhance the quality, reach and reliability of digital services across the country.
The initiative is focused on strengthening connectivity to meet the growing demand for online communication, education and commercial activities, according to a report by the International Information Centre (IIC).
As cited by Arzuw News, national telecom operators are rolling out advanced technological solutions aimed at supporting key areas such as remote work, distance learning and digital business operations. These measures reflect the government's emphasis on expanding digital infrastructure and ensuring wider public access to modern communication services.
The country's leading mobile operator, Altyn Asyr, also known as TM CELL, has introduced a range of specialised mobile internet packages designed to cater to diverse user needs. These packages are intended to provide subscribers with improved internet speed and reliability, enabling seamless access to online platforms for professional, educational and personal use, as reported by Arzuw News.
At the same time, state-run Turkmentelekom continues to expand the coverage of its TELECOMWIFI network, significantly increasing the availability of wireless internet services.
As part of this expansion, unlimited Wi-Fi access has been introduced at several key public locations, including shopping malls, marketplaces, Ashgabat International Airport, and various health resorts and sanatoriums across the country.
Officials noted that the expansion of TELECOMWIFI is aimed at improving digital convenience for residents and visitors alike, particularly in high-traffic areas where stable internet access is essential.
The availability of multiple pricing plans is expected to make internet access more affordable and adaptable for a wide range of users, from short-term visitors to regular subscribers.
Observers said the ongoing modernisation of Turkmenistan's telecommunications infrastructure highlights the country's commitment to digital development and its efforts to integrate modern communication technologies into everyday life. (ANI)
