KABUL, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Afghans from all walks of life have condemned the Israeli attacks on Iran as a violation of international laws, which jeopardize regional stability.
"The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan strongly condemns the recent Israeli regime attacks on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the assassinations of commanders and nuclear scientists," the chief spokesman of the Afghan interim government, Zabihullah Mujahid, said on his X account.
"These actions constitute a clear violation of the fundamental principles of international law, particularly the respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations," Mujahid asserted in a sharp reaction announced hours after the air raids began early Friday.
The conflict, which began with Israeli strikes on Iran's capital Tehran and other cities on Friday morning and was retaliated against by Tehran, has entered its fourth day on Monday, during which countless people from both sides reportedly have been killed and injured.
According to Mujahid, Afghanistan wants all concerned parties to address the problem with a sense of responsibility to uphold regional peace and security and to prevent any further escalation in the region.
Afghan former president Hamid Karzai has termed the Israeli attack on Iran as a breach of international norms.
"The war-weary Afghans clearly understand the destructive impact of war and instability in the region and therefore call upon all the countries to respect international laws and contribute in stabilizing peace and security," Karzai said in a statement posted on his X account.
Karimullah, a street vendor who had lost his father in the Afghan wars years ago, also warned that countless innocent people would lose their parents if the conflict continues.
