SHARJAH, 8th May, 2025 (WAM) -- A five-member delegation of outstanding taekwondo athletes from Sharjah clubs has departed the UAE for Uzbekistan to take part in a training camp aimed at further developing their performance.
The camp, which will run until 11th May, forms part of the Sharjah Sports Council's broader plan to prepare for the Asian Games, scheduled to take place in the Kingdom of Bahrain this October. The Games serve as a qualifying event for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
Mohammed Obaid Al Husan, Director of Sports Affairs and Development at the Council, confirmed that the camp marks the beginning of a new phase in preparing the athletes, with a focus on joint training sessions for top-performing talents. He also noted that further training camps-both local and international-are planned for the summer as part of the continuous build-up to the Asian Games.
The delegation includes Nasser Ahmed Al Muhairi, Abdullah Issa Al Shamsi, and Marwan Hassan Abdullah Al Ali from Sharjah Sports Club; Salman Bakhit Al Zaabi from Kalba Cultural and Sports Club; and Hamdan Ali Issa Al Qaramti from Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club. The group is accompanied by coach Abdullah Hatim from Sharjah Sports Club.
