ST. PETERSBURG, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The Progress MS-23 cargo spacecraft launched earlier in the day has docked with the International Space Station (ISS), Russia's state space corporation Roscosmos announced on Wednesday.
The spacecraft was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan by a Soyuz-2.1a rocket at 3:56 p.m. Moscow Time. The flight followed an ultra-fast rendezvous scheme and after about 3 hours and 25 minutes it landed at the ISS.
Onboard Progress MS-23 is about 2,500 kg of cargo, including fuel, drinking water, nitrogen, research equipment and tools, consumables and kits for scientific experiments.
According to Roscosmos, the Soyuz-2.1a rocket used to launch the Progress MS-23 spacecraft was marked with images dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the city of Perm and the 60th anniversary of the first woman to fly in space.
